A Positive First Experience on the Mats

Young children learn by moving, exploring, and practicing. Our Littles program introduces Jiu-Jitsu in manageable steps, with clear directions and opportunities to try again. We help children become more comfortable participating in class, working with a partner, and learning something new.

Movement & Jiu-Jitsu Basics

  • Balance, coordination, and body awareness
  • Basic ground positions and movement
  • Introductions to controlling and escaping positions
  • Learning through drills and interactive games

Skills Beyond the Technique

  • Listening and following directions
  • Taking turns and working with a partner
  • Respecting personal space and class rules
  • Practicing patience and persistence

What Class Is Like

Our 45-minute classes combine guided movement, short demonstrations, partner practice, and games with a purpose. Coaches help students understand each activity and give them time to practice.

We introduce expectations gradually: listen to the coach, treat partners with care, and stop when asked. The goal is steady progress and a positive relationship with learning.

Is Your Child Ready?

Age is one part of the picture. Comfort in a group, willingness to participate, and the ability to follow simple directions also matter. Your child does not need martial arts experience to begin.

An introductory lesson gives us a chance to meet your child, answer your questions, and help you decide whether the class is a good fit.

Meet Your Child’s Coaches

Our Littles coaching team includes Coach Iris Rousseau, Coach Dennis Rousseau, Coach Joe Snapp, and Coach Katie Scott. We work with students patiently, explain expectations clearly, and encourage effort as they develop new skills.

Questions Before Your Child Starts?

Does my child need previous experience?

No. This is an introductory program. We teach the movements and class routines step by step.

What if my child is shy?

Let us know when you contact us. We can discuss your child’s needs and use the introductory lesson to help them become familiar with the coach and training space.

What should my child wear to the intro?

Comfortable athletic clothing without zippers or exposed metal is a good starting point. Remove jewelry and bring water. We’ll confirm any additional details when you book.

What comes after the Littles program?

Littles builds a foundation for our Kids Jiu-Jitsu program. Coaches can help you determine when your child is ready for that next step.
