Are you looking for a safe and supportive environment to build confidence, get in shape, and learn real-world self-defense? Our Ladies Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program at AMAC is designed specifically to empower women, giving them the tools they need to protect themselves while training in a comfortable and welcoming space.
A Unique Training Environment
Our Ladies BJJ class coincides with the co-ed class, but with a structured approach that ensures comfort for every participant. The ladies train on one side of the mat, while the men train on the other. Those who prefer to train exclusively with other women remain on the ladies’ side, while those comfortable training in a co-ed environment can transition back and forth as they see fit.
This structure allows women to gradually build the confidence needed to train with male practitioners, while still receiving the high-level instruction and technique refinement essential to progress in Jiu-Jitsu.
Practical Self-Defense Designed for Women
This program is tailored to prepare women for real-world confrontations, equipping them with the skills necessary to defend against larger and stronger opponents. By focusing on technique, leverage, and positioning, women can learn how to neutralize and control an attacker using proven Jiu-Jitsu methods.

Coach Iris launched this program upon receiving her brown belt in 2016 recognizing the need for a space where women could train with partners their own size before transitioning into co-ed classes. Many women feel intimidated by the idea of starting in a mixed-gender setting, especially when faced with training partners that match the size and strength of a potential attacker. This class provides the opportunity to begin training in a comfortable, encouraging environment, helping students build the confidence they need to expand their training experience.
Build Strength, Confidence, and Community
Beyond self-defense, our Ladies BJJ program offers an incredible full-body workout that enhances strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination. Training in this class provides not only a strong support network of women but also a proven path toward achieving both fitness and martial arts goals.
